MEST Undergraduate Student Scholarships
The King Fahd Center supports the best of our undergraduates with scholarships in support of academic excellence in Middle East Studies. Academic scholarships for advanced undergraduate MEST majors who have demonstrated serious commitment to study and excellence in their coursework and scholarship. Additional funding is available for undergraduate students majoring in Middle East Studies to be used toward study abroad programs in the Middle East and North Africa.
Graduate Student Grants and Assistantships
Graduate study for students at the MA and PhD levels working in academic disciplines with a Center faculty specialist in Middle East/Islamic Studies is supported through competitive MEST Graduate Assistantships in a limited number of departments and programs within the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. The Center also supports summer language study and research focusing on the Middle East, North Africa and Islamic Studies conducted within the United States or abroad through competitive grants. Conference travel grants for students participating in an approved regional, national or international conference are also available on a competitive basis.
Faculty Travel and Research Support Grants
The King Fahd Center offers funding for faculty members at the U of A doing research on a topic relevant geo-cultural area. Award amount varies depending on project and proposal. Any faculty member with relevant research is eligible for a Faculty Research Support Grant, not only those affiliated with the King Fahd Center. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but applicants should allow a minimum of six weeks for travel preparations.
Event and Project Sponsorship Requests
The King Fahd Center sponsors and co-sponsors a variety of events and programming every academic year. Funding or organizational help is available on a case by case basis for events or projects related to the Middle East and North Africa.
